+ FINANCE COMMITTEE

Description: The finance committee works in conjunction with the Account Administrator to provide financial oversight for the organization. The committee puts forth the financial plan, monthly reporting and presents the overall budget to be approved by the Board of Directors. The Committee is responsible for creating and monitoring financial internal controls and adhering to policies and procedures. Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping is an asset.

Outline of time commitment:

  • Committee meets monthly
  • You are required to attend 10 meetings
  • Busy times of the year are August, September and June

Number of members required: 3

Description: The Legal Committee is responsible to ensure that the organization complies with the law in all aspects of work, including complying with our own governing laws. This includes all contractual obligations, insurance, and licensing agreements.

  • Busy times of the year vary.

+ OPERATIONAL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES COMMITTEE

Description: Responsible for the review, creation and communication of the Student/Parent Handbook and the Operational Policies and Procedures Handbook. The OPP Committee will work in conjunction with the Artistic Director and Board of Directors to ensure that policies, procedures and guidelines of the Dance Program are communicated effectively to the membership of SDA. The committee is also responsible to ensure that policies and procedures, which govern the operations, are current and reflective of the roles, responsibilities and accountability mechanisms for each committee

+ FUNDRAISING/ GALA COMMITTEE

Description: Fundraising committee is responsible to provide and execute a fundraising plan to the Board of Directors to help offset the overall costs to membership. The fundraising committee is comprised of two (2) streams of fundraising:

  • Individual Fundraising - initiatives that allow families to raise funds to offset individual dance costs. These initiatives are open to all members and participated in by choice. The committee is responsible to suggest ideas for individual fundraising and transfer funds to their individual Jackrabbit Account.
  • Group Fundraising – studio wide fundraising initiatives that benefit all members (example: Gala/raffles/sponsorship). These funds will be allocated by the Board of Directors to aid with costs associated with the overall operation and sustainability of Strive.

  • Committee meets (1) time in a month
  • You are required to attend 9 meetings
  • Busy times of the year vary with increased time commitment after January

+ COSTUME COMMITTEE

Description: The costume committee works in conjunction with the teachers, seamstresses and membership to ensure effective communication of costuming requirements. The costume committee will aid teachers in the purchasing of material and costume accessories. The committee is also responsible to track inventory of Strive purchased costuming resources and stay within budget guidelines as set out by the Board of Directors.

  • Busy times of the year are October and February

+ MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

Description: The Marketing and Communications Committee is responsible to communicate programs offered at Strive. They are also responsible to communicate events, performances, goals and successes of the organization. The Committee is responsible for all forms of media used to convey this message including, but not limited to, social media accounts, website, various advertising mediums, team apparel, and photography/video publication. The initiatives under this committee must adhere to the Brand Guidelines as set out by the committee. The committee is also responsible (in conjunction with the Board of Directors) to maintain information/documents through a file management system to ensure sustainability and accurate transfer of information from year to year. + PROPS COMMITTEE

Description: The props committee is responsible for the construction, artistic creation and logistics of all props. The committee will work in conjunction with the teachers and choreographers to ensure feasibility of the prop, including communication of timelines and date of completion. It is the responsibility of the committee to keep inventory and care for materials and equipment used in the prop workshop. The prop committee is also accountable to adhere to the prop budget as established by the Board of Directors. All members are expected to help with the transportation/loading of props from storage/studio to stage rehearsals, Strive events and competitions.

+ MAINTENANCE COMMITTEE

Description: The purpose of the maintenance committee is to oversee maintenance, repairs, and the general upkeep of the building, property, common areas and grounds. (This may include jobs such as snow removal) The committee advises, supports and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors and property owner(s) on all matters of facilities management and maintenance

+ SOCIAL COMMITTEE

Description: Social committee is responsible to improve the social environment of the organization through spearheading and organizing membership or staff events. The overall goal of the committee is to further establish a sense of family, belonging and positivity through social interactions with one another. The social committee is also responsible for organizing and administering exam lunches. Outline of time commitment:

  • Committee meets every 1-2 months
  • You are required to attend 5 meetings
  • Busy times of year September, December, May

+ YEAR END SHOW/SOLO SHOWCASE COMMITTEE

Description: The responsibility of the committee is to work in conjunction with the Artistic Director and staff to create and report the overall plan of the year-end show and solo show case. The committee is responsible to report to the Board of Directors the financial and budget implications of each show.

  • Committee meets periodically
  • You are required to attend 4 meetings

+ MENTORSHIP COMMITTEE

Description: The role of the mentorship committee is to provide guidance and advice to new members of Strive Dance Academy. This committee will attend the new parent meeting organized by the Marketing Committee, as well as create a relationship with new members so that they can provide support, information and insight to the SDA Competitive program culture. Including but not limited to: Exam expectations, competition preparation, and transitions throughout the season.

Outline of time commitment:

  • Committee meets every 2-3 months
  • You are required to attend min. 3
  • Busy times of the year September and March
